The Nevada County Horsemen regularly feature and host Team Penning,Barrel Racing, Gymkhana. Besides events and activities, NCHI seeks to promote horsemanship throughout the community and to provide a friendly and wholesome social environment for young and old alike. A Brief History of the Nevada County Horsemen

The Nevada County Sheriff's Posse served as the foundation for the Nevada County Horsemen. The Sheriff's posse was comprised of about 30 men. This group was considered the elite horse organization of western Nevada County. In 1950, urged by their spouses, they started to include family members in their activities.

Sheriff Carl Tobiassen and his wife, Mildred, held the first meetings in their home resulting in the formation of Nevada County Horsemen, Inc. With invitations to other local horse groups, the new club grew in leaps and bounds. ... > read more
